Fernando Sor (1778 — 1839) was a Spanish guitarist and composer, born in Barcelona. In Spain he is sometimes known as the “Beethoven of the Guitar”. His Op. 60 contains 24 studies, all of them great music. This is an “Allegretto”. Peo

“Sarabande” was originally a fast dance from Latin America, often with a sexual undertone. It was banned from several European countries but at the end of the 17th. century it changed and got a more religious and serious sound. No dancing!! :)

I dedicate this video to my You Tube Guitar Hero, “ovidiov”, who inspired me to explore the music of Brazil and Dilermando.
One of the few pieces that says: “Prelude pour la Lute” from Bach’s hands. Probably an indication that the cembalo should be registred to have “a lute-sound”, a kind of “damped” sound…
